The VagFair

The VagFair

Is it ironic that the event known as VAG Fair ended prematurely? Having said that, we had a great day. Before the rains came and left us ducking under our tent in ankle deep puddles – there was a ton of quality cars and good people. Good news is it held off for most of the day, and we got to enjoy the show as well as stunt our fresh look booth to the VAG Fair faithful.

Prior to the rain, it was one of the biggest VW shows of the year, as usual. Cory & the gang have done a great job with this event, growing it into one of the most anticipated events of summer. We’ve been to events at the York Fairgrounds before, but none quite like this one – filling the whole track area with cars and people.

Some proper fitted VW’s and Audi’s turned out – hence the VAG – but there was also some non-VAG cars in attendance sporting the pokes and the stretches and all that stuff they talk about on the internets.

Vag Fair was a good time – but how could it not be? Its the fitting warm-up to H2O International next month.

Check out some photos that we snapped early in the day:

Nasty Neon

Nasty Neon

We’ll go on the record to say this is probably the only Neon you’ll ever see on this site. Having said that, this SRT-4 goes hard. We first noticed it at the Creatures of the Night Show, which is where we got the chance to meet Kyle, the car’s owner.

It had never occurred to us that anyone outside the vw community could pull off this ironic Corvette wheel fitment. But they look the part on this car. These ones are 9.5″ all the way around and painted Cadillac Escalade white pearl. BC Coilovers, front and rear camber plates, short sway bars, and end links help make it all possible.

A little bit of rain didn’t stop us from shooting the car. Enjoy:

Living the Low Life

Living the Low Life

We’ve known Donnie Hanna for quite some time. He had a Helios 16V GLI when he was fifteen years old. Now, many years later, he’s a daddy – but that hasn’t changed his love for cars and specifically vw’s. Yeah, he drove an Eclipse for some time somewhere in the middle, but we won’t hold that against him.

We planned a photoshoot for what we thought was going to be a convenient, easy time – a couple hours before a night time car show that we all planned on attending together. But lemme tell you, we are rookies at this photography thing. Apparently the middle of the afternoon, the hottest point of the day, isn’t the best time to be outside shooting photos. We’ve learned some great survival tips on various tv shows though so we knew we could handle it. No, we didn’t pee on our shirts and tie them around our heads, we just took the photos as quickly as possible and got back inside his air-conditioned Mk4 Jetta 1.8T.

The thing we like about this car is – well it’s done to his tastes. Yeah RS’s and Rotiform BLQ’s are cool wheels, but we don’t have to see them on every VW at the shows do we? Anyway, Donnie recently hooked up with our pals at AirLift Company and installed a full air suspension set-up on the car… so we figured it was a perfect excuse for a photoshoot.

Enjoy!

Global Time Attack – Round 2 – NJ

Global Time Attack – Round 2 – NJ

We got a chance to get up close and personal with the Global Time Attack series this past weekend, when they invaded New Jersey Motorsports Park. If you’re not familiar, you will be. GTA is about speed and it’s about breaking track records. Period. And how can you not love that? Four records were broken this past weekend – included in that was the GST Motorsports AWD Subaru shattering the NJMP record for closed wheel racing by 4 seconds! And of course, Christian Rado once again proves that he’s got the fastest FWD on any track, in any state, in a straight line or around turns. It also looks like he’s about to unveil an all new tC-2 body style F-wing beast. It was on display but not quite ready to see track time this past weekend.

If you missed the action, no worries. GTA Live streams the racing and talks to the racers all throughout the weekend – and you can check it out here:

GTA also hosted the Just For Kicks car gathering, which gave the hard parkers a chance to show off their cars, right in the mix of the action. These guys and gals had it made as they could sit in their air conditioned cars and watch the racers complete their record breaking laps. It was cool to walk thru the event and see show cars parked right across from the race crews in their pits.

GTA will be heading to Autobahn Racing Club next month, just outside of Chicago. But even if you don’t get the chance to travel there to see it in person, GTA has still got you covered because they’ll be streaming live all throughout the weekend. If you’re into speed, don’t miss it. Check out GlobalTimeAttack.com for more info and more footage.

The Sizzler – vw summer sizzle

The Sizzler – vw summer sizzle

This past weekend we completed the three-peat. Three consecutive shows in York – and believe it or not after a weekend off we’ll be right back in York for a fourth event. As for this event, York VW hosts the show and its proceeds go to benefit the American Cancer Society. So it was a win-win for us.

Over the past couple of months we’ve been noticing more and more cars with our stickers – and people walking around the shows wearing our gear. That’s pretty cool. We appreciate the love.
